About
Each year, the UK generates more than 150 million tonnes of mineral waste, but current UK statistics give almost no insight into the makeup, composition and source of this enormous volume of material.
This project aims to make that information accessible, drawing from a wide range of data sources to provide interactive maps representing the UK’s mineral waste by individual material type and composition. Its purpose is to map the sheer complexity of the UK's waste landscape and help better focus efforts on re-use and waste reduction.
